Dating Dilema

Okay ladies and gentlemen, I need your help.

We've reached a place in our marriage. I'm happy to be at this point, mind you, because i think it's a wonderful place to be. We are so comfortable that we don't really date. Don't get me wrong, we do everything together. If we're not working, we're together. But it seems harder to date. Does that make sense? This is where you come in....what do you do for dates? I need some fresh ideas. What's your favorite place to go together? Or your favorite thing to do? In Jacksonville, or just in general. Here for example are a few of our go-to's:
St. Augustine- just to walk around, maybe a ghost tour, a walk around the fort, and stops in the galleries around the plaza.
San Marco- the little theatre, and a walk at Landon park.
Home depot- this is a recently acquired favorite! Nothing like dreaming over sinks and washing machines with the one you love =)

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I don't think it's a matter of going on dates but really that you enjoy spending time together (which I know you and David do)although I think an official date is just fun. Glad to know we're not the only ones who walk around in Home Depot, it's like a playground to Joe.

Ben and I don't really "date" either. We've recently talked about it too as we really do do EVERYTHING together - including grocery shopping, but I've been wanting to 'date' once in a while.

Some ideas: There is a bowling ally by us that does $1 monday night bowl. Each game is only $1 (plus shoe rentals). You can buy some cheap kites and go to the beach to fly a kite. Um, Game night, challenge each other to a game of battle ship or connect four. Have a prize for the winner. Loser has to scrub the toilet or massage my feet etc. You can discover a new park, play frisbee (which most Walgreens have them on clearance right now), do something "touristy" that you normally wouldn't do, go to the cummer on Tuesday nights (it's free that night), make cookies together and surpirse your bishop, rs president or someone else in your ward with them.

OR...

Double date. If you invite another couple to go with you, you're more likely to treat it like a date vs. just a simple doing something together.

About once or twice a year I surpise Ben with what I call a HOT Date night...which really isn't hot, but I like the sound of it. I totally surprise him with an entire evening planned by me. We generally go to dinner and then either a concert, play or something else that I know he would like but either doesn't know is happening or doesn't think we should spend the money on it right at that moment. Then we generally go for a night time stroll along the board walk downtown, stop for ice cream and just really enjoy each others company while doing something completely out of the norm. Plus he loves the fact that he didn't have to plan it. I usually just tell him, Friday night Hot date night...wear something "nice" or casual etc.

HOpe that helps!

OK so here goes...

If you're gonna go to St. Augustine to walk around (also a HUGE favorite of ours) you've gotta go to Harry's Seafood :) The ambiance of the restaurant is so cozy and the food is off the chain good!

It's lame but we also enjoy going to the movies...but not just any theatre the Clay Theatre! It only has TWO theatres and is super old so it feels like you've gone back in time. The last time we went though was to see King Kong (kinda had a baby so it's been a while) the movie was so long they still do an intermission (that rocked) and the concession food is SUPER cheap!

We also LOOOOOOVE to go bowling!!! Now granted Wii bowling is way fun too, but nothing beats a pair of ugly shoes and some chili-cheese fries...yummm!

Another favorite...it's kind of silly sounding...but when the mood strikes it's fun to go to a few of your favorite eatin' places and order a thing or two from their menu and then watch a good movie! For example: jalenpeno poppers from Arby's, fries from McDs, whopper from BK, frosty from Wendys...and so on and then top it off with "Meet the Parents" an Armogan favorite!

You can always do a Walmart Scavenger hunt...just the two of you! Both have to take a cart and find 5 or 10 things that you think the other would buy and see who knows each other better and then go grab some DQ on the way home (LOL)

Or one date night let him pick everything you do...dinner, games, ect and the next date night you get to pick dinner, chick flick, ect

I've always wanted to take a picnic down to the beach at night, but that'll be a little harder with the wee one...gotta get a sitter!

It's VERY expensive and so something we'll only reserve for say an anniversary...but Ravi recently surprised me by asking my sister to watch Chandani and took me to Morton's Steakhouse where he made reservations for our 5 year anniversary. They vallet your car at no extra charge (making you feel all special), had printed at the top of our custom menus "Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Armogan" (so chic) and took our picture and framed with with a matting signed by the whole staff that night :) The food was WONDERFUL and we felt so ritzy for that one night!

Let me know how the "New Dating Scene goes?"
